WHO MAKES A GOOD PILOT?
Flying is for people that enjoy practicing the art of movement, balance, and flow. It is for people that want to explore themselves and their environment. It is for people that understand we all have limitations, and that we are part of a system that is much bigger than ourselves. It is for anyone that has dreamed of flying like a bird!
Flying is for people with many different approaches, learning styles, and goals. Some fly for the soft ride down on calm days, some fly for the adventure on active days, and some fly because they want to fly with friends. You DO learn a lot about the weather, aerodynamics, and decision making. And, like many things that require practice, flying is often about how it is framed by you prior to taking off into the sky. You get to choose a goal for your flight, the air in which you fly, and the places you go. Many of us fly with friends. Some fly alone with the ravens. And all of us fly because it is meaningful, fulfilling, and fun. ALL pilots have their own approach to flying, learning, and adventuring.
No matter who you are, you'll find something in these flying resources you can utilize. From showing you how to start flying, to increasing your flying know-how, to competing and flying at a high level, the women on our women's resources page are showing us all what is possible in the sky. So check that page out no matter who you are.
You can contact our local instructors, explore the links on our pages, or contact us to get more info about women and flying. If you look around online, and find something you think is valuable, share it with us, and we will add it here.
Like airline pilots, paragliding and hanggliding pilots use checklists, training, and must have many hours flying in calm air to begin to fly further and faster. We use modern lightweight and easily packable gear to make the sport safe, accessible, and super fulfilling. Pilots here have flown for decades. New Mexico in particular has many flyable days throughout the year. So if you are wondering what it is like, contact us. We'll show you.
